Suzuka8Hours – Yamaha would have the Italian champion Valentino Rossi for the 2017 Suzuka8Hours. The Yamaha rider would be the star of the Japanese event. However, Rossi doesn’t think it’s a good idea.
Valentino Rossi won the Japanese endurance in 2001 with Honda. Yamaha wants to give him a YZR R1 to win the Edition number 40. Rossi knows the big bike of Iwata. Because he uses it often in Misano. Also Rossi followed the genesis of the latest version. If Valentino wins in Honda’s home the 40th edition, it would have a special meaning and Yamaha would do a historic hat-trick. Pol Espargaró won the 2016 edition. It was the two consecutive victories for Yamaha. Next year the Catalan boy, anyway, will run the MotoGP World Championship on a KTM. So, he will not take part to 2017 Suzuka8Hours with Yamaha, but if there were the phenomenon Rossi…
Suzuka8Hours, Yamaha wants to Win the 40th Edition
“The race is very important to us. We would be very happy if we could win with Valentino the Edition number 40.” recently declared Eric de Seynes in conversation with MCN. However, now Rossi would take issue with the desires of Yamaha. “I really enjoy this race. I would like to take part again with Yamaha. But the problem is that I will not do it over the course of a season in MotoGP. Maybe if I’ll stop. I am too old. We have enough time to attend Suzuka8Hours. Because the race will take place during the ten days we have between the first and second part of the season, I’d rather go on holiday.” said Rossi. “So, if you spend this week in Suzuka, means physically and mentally stressful. I might pay in the second half of the season.”
After the end of his career in MotoGP, Rossi does not prevent participation. “Maybe when I finish my career. Then I’d try again with Yamaha. Because it’s a great race.” he assured the 37-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of 2018.
