Sokol – Jorge Lorenzo was in Kazakhstan to visit the new circuit of Sokol. The track designed by Hermann Tilke is still under construction, although the work should be completed shortly. The track will host international competitions, including MotoGP and SBK. “I would try it with a motorcycle.” said Lorenzo. The track is located in the vicinity of Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, where he went for a meeting with Jorge fans and the local press.
The famous architect Hermann Tilke designed the track of Sokol, which has a length of 4,495 m and a width of 15 meters. It can organize sports competitions like MotoGP, Superbike World Championship, DTM, WTCC and other leagues. Jorge Lorenzo went to Almaty and Sokol in 2015. Now, the Yamaha’s rider wants to see the state of work and live progress of the Sokol’s circuit. After the race in Barcelona and before the race at Assen, Jorge visited Almaty for two days. The first day Lorenzo met with local media at Sokol track and then participated in a press conference. Members of the media wanted to know his opinion about the facilities. Lorenzo seemed enthusiastic. “I can’t wait to try the track riding a motorcycle.” said the Spaniard. The new circuit is very important for Kazakhstan. The circuit will help promote worldwide this nation and will attract much tourism in the area. Finally, the visit of Lorenzo was also an opportunity to explain some of the technical characteristics of the track.
After Sokol Racetrack, Lorenzo wants to win in Assen
The second day the Spanish world champion had a chance to visit the town again. Also Lorenzo went to the Esentai Mall to meet his fans and sign some autographs. The world champion will be back on track at Assen, later this month. The goal is to do better than Barcelona and continue the race to the 2016 World Title.
