Red Bull Ring – Valentino Rossi is the only rider who has already raced at Red Bull Ring. It was called Zeltweg and in 1996 he went to the podium in 125. Twenty years have passed and the Yamaha MotoGP is a completely different bike. However, Rossi loves this track.
“It’s a very particular track. Because it’s really fast. The gas is wide open for a long time.” said Rossi. “Compared with the other circuits, there are far fewer curves. Nine in a round compared to 15 a regular track. It is very quick, but i like turns”. However, Yamaha doesn’t seem to fit at Red Bull Ring. There is a need for constant acceleration and power. “I think that the race will be very difficult for us. Because it is a fast track. Certainly not the best for the M1. We suffer a bit in top speed.” continued Rossi. “We will give our best to get the most. During the test, we have taken a step forward. Then we’ll see. Now, I await rest and holidays, before finding out what will happen when we return to Austria in August. ”
Red Bull Ring, unknown weather conditions and pneus
Rossi leaves the Red Bull Ring with some good feel and with the fifth finish time. “Two good days for Yamaha. Especially we improved performance and the balance of the bike. However, tt the track was better, more rubberized. We managed to get closer to the best. At Red Bull Ring will be a very difficult race. Especially because of some rivals that are faster than us-refers to red-it will be very important to also understand the potential opponents who weren’t here. It will be interesting to see if we will be more or less fast than them, but we have to wait. ”
Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo are concerned also about the weather and the tires. “We will also look at how the weather conditions and what kind of pneus Michelin will choose for the Austrian GP.” said Lorenzo at the end of the test. “Maybe there will be the same that we tried. The one who kept may not be the best, but it’s safer on the race distance. In addition, we will see how I will feel in a month“.
