Laverty – Eugene Laverty will be returning to the World Superbike championship in 2017. The 32 year old will be reuniting with Aprilla after a 2 year MotoGP stint. He is excited to return to World Superbike championship with Aprilla. Eugene also added that he had a lot of success there and it was a great time. He even said that during his 2 years in MotoGP he have learned a lot. According to Laverty, there have been some difficult times of course. But he has improved lot as a rider and look forward to the next level in his career.
Eugene Laverty was a champion of thirteen World Superbike races. He had spent the last two years in MotoGP with privateer squad Aspar. In the first campaign, Laverty was 22nd overall. He is now in the 11th position in 2016 standings. The rider says he is very motivated because for past two years it has been a different fight. He was there in the middle of the field, trying to improve. However, going back with a factory Aprilia and chances to win races and compete for world title is a different mindset. Eugene says he is ready for it.
Eugene Laverty follows the footsteps of Stefan Bradl
According to the announcement, Eugene will ride a factory Aprilla in the 2016. After Stefan Bradl, Eugene is the 2nd active MotoGP rider to secure a place in World Superbikes for next year. However, it is to be noted that Stefan Bradl signed with the Honda factory team. According to Laverty, the next year will be an exciting one. Laverty’s current teammate Yonny Hernandez seems to join Alvaro Bautista in MotoGP. Eugene says a lot of strong riders in World Superbikes. There will be even more riders next year. Well, it seems Laverty’s days in WSBK are going to really exciting and competitive as well.
