KTM RC16 – The 2016 MotoGP World Championship arrives at the last stage. The Valencia GP, in Spain. Marquez is the 2016 world champion and all teams are ready for the first tests of the 2017 season. However, the Spanish GP also marks the official arrival of the KTM in MotoGP. The KTM RC16 will debut with Mika Kallio, who, after developing the bike, can get on track and fight with the big champions of MotoGP.
KTM RC16, All homemade
The KTM RC16 is built in Austria. In the House. Frame and especially the engine. The project leader is Mike Leitner, Pedrosa’s former Chief Engineer at Honda. The lattice structure is the core of the new bike and it’s similar to the first Ducati. Next year KTM will run in all three classes. The KTM RC16 will also have WP suspensions, property company of KTM. It’s an original technical strategy.
Pol Espargarò e Bradley Smith
Pol Espargaró and Bradley Smith will be the KTM official riders in the 2017 MotoGP World Championship. Only they can understand if the new bike will challenge with the best bikes. However, they will also show to be the best riders for this important debut. The most mature is the Spanish pilot with 44 podiums and 15 victories (none in MotoGP). While the German driver arrived 19 times on the podium and he won 7 GP (none in MotoGP). But the German arrived second in a MotoGP race.
And if one day came an Austrian pilot…
A Spaniard and a German rider will drive the new KTM RC16. No Austrian driver will go up in the saddle. The Austrians are not shining in two wheels. We can remember the oldest August Auinger and the younger Michael Ranseder. But today, the Austria cannot put on the track some champions. We’ll see if the Austrian brand will be capable of this too.
