Japan – Yamaha engines go to Japan after the KO in the 2016 GP of Italy. They will leave immediately and they will check by the Japanese constructor’s Research and Development Department. In Japan, the goal is to have a detailed analysis and to find the cause of problems. The first collapsed engine was on Jorge Lorenzo’s motorcycle in the warm-up. The second was on Valentino Rossi’s bike in the race. Lin Jarvis confirmed plans of Yamaha Racing to MCN. In addition, he said that what happened during the weekend has been a shock for the Yamaha’s team factory. “No one expected to have reliability issues by an almost flawless from this point of view in recent years.”
Lin Jarvis explained to MCN what happened to the Yamaha’s engines at Mugello. Also, he spoke about the imminent return to the track for the Catalunya GP. “It’s pretty unusual when you verify a rupture. However, it is extremely rare to have two in one day. Obviously, this is something we need to check carefully. All materials will be sent to Japan. The Research and Development Department will analyze it in detail. We will certainly to have the analysis and feedback before the Barcelona GP. Then, we will take the necessary countermeasures.”
In Japan to fight the bad luck
Then, Jarvis acknowledged as the Movistar team Yamaha MotoGP has gone away from Mugello not entirely satisfied. “We missed a good opportunity to come away from Mugello with another “double”. We have to settle for the victory [obtained by Lorenzo]. Anyway We were lucky in misfortune. We could have two engines merged into races. Fortunately, in fact, Jorge had his problem during the warm-up. It was a very special day for us. We were very sad for Valentino. He couldn’t express his potential. He could fight for the victory. However, a mechanical failure compromises it.”
