Behind the project are a Russian company and a lot of money. Disciples of the space saga immediately remember this one scene. In the sixth part of the saga “The Return of the Jedi Knights” storm troops on hover bikes (also known as Speeder Bikes) want to flee. Luke Skywalker and his sister Leia capture one of the companions and start the pursuit.

Fans will soon be able to relive the breathtaking hunt through the forests of Endor – albeit not quite at the same speed. A Russian startup is now receiving billions of euros in support from the credit institution Vnesheconombank. The Hoversurf Company has now released a video showing their flying motorcycle “S3” in action on a Moscow race track. The vehicle is not only intended to transport people. But also to serve as a commercial vehicle,” confirmed Sergey Gorkov, the company’s CEO.
Ten meters
According to the inventors, it can carry up to 120 kilograms. Then, it should be able to fly up to ten meters high and reach a speed of up to 50 kilometers per hour. The Hoverbike will cost between 50,000 and 80,000 US dollars (equivalent to 42,000 to 67,000 euros). Despite the impressive price, there are already several advance orders from Asia and the Middle East. The first hover bikes could be sold next year.
