Valentino Rossi speaks with Autosport about the Catalunya GP’s tragic weekend. “We knew it was dangerous the curve 12. However, if I think about it, I can count 10 dangerous turns in the Moto GP’s world championship. The curve 4 of Motegi, such as. Every year, we ask more escape routes. Then, analyzing the situation you realize that you can’t extend the escape routes. There are many points when you realize that you don’t have space if you fall on the bike.” said Rossi.
Escape Routes: “We can’t have a hundred meters”
However, it is not only dangerous the circuit in Motegi. “A few years ago, in Jerez, Roberto Locatelli crashed at turn 10. The steering wheel blocked and Roberto went straight where obviously there wasn’t escape routes. In a straight, you can’t have a hundred meters of escape. We should run in the desert. In fact, the only place where everything is OK is the Qatar GP. It’s really hard to have 100% safety. It’s something that won’t happen.” added Rossi.
Valentino Rossi doesn’t know if he will take part in the next Safety Commission in Assen. “If you’ll be there, I don’t know, maybe. I hope. Fridays I’m very busy. I have many things to do. If possible, I’ll try to take part.” concluded Rossi. The Dutch GP takes place later this month and it is an important step in the battle for the 2016 world title starring Lorenzo Marquez and the Doctor.
