Championship with electric motors – Carmelo Ezpeleta reveals that the design of a championship with electric motors is real. Then, he hopes that this will be ready for 2019.
Championship with electric motors in 2019
A few months ago, Dorna’s leader, issued a statement to the daily newspaper AS, revealing that there is a project to set up a motorcycle championship starting from 2019. So, little details about prototype are emerging. In a talk made a few days ago with Motorsport.com, Ezpeleta said that everything seems to go in the right direction.
The project is in the advanced phase
On the table, there are already the proposals of four manufacturers interested in supplying motorcycles. Because batteries would be recharged by photovoltaic panels to minimize the polluting factor. “The project is in the advanced phase. There are likely to be some events in support of MotoGP in Europe in 2019. We have four manufacturers’ proposals on the table. All with the same bikes (able to reach 200 km/h), and races will be at least 10 laps.” said Ezpeleta. This new category will be part of the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM). “We want that solar panels to recharge the batteries. So, not with diesel-powered generators as in other championships,” he concluded.
Just a few hours from the start of the Jerez GP weekend, in Spain, Ezpeleta speaks of a championship with electric motors. So, Motorsport also follows current trends and the future of the two-wheeler market. Dorna knows it and that’s why it wants a championship with electric motors.
Will be the championship with electric motors attractive or not?
Now the question is how the public and sponsors respond. So, will be the championship with electric motors attractive or not? But Ezpeleta is a man of sport and business. So, we believe it is very difficult for the Spaniard to have chosen the wrong way. We’ll see.
