2017 MotoGP Winglets – Yamaha offers the big news of the day. The Japanese brand shows the solution designed to avoid the prohibition of the winglets on the fairings. As the picture shows, the Yamaha M1 integrated winglets and concealed them inside the hulls. Obviously larger. Because it should host them. The solution is absolutely legal and approved. Because the prohibition applies to the protruding winglets from the hull or body and not integrated into the hull. Expected countermoves from the other manufacturers.

The Japanese brand respects the constraints of regulation
Gigi Dall’Igna was right. The General Manager of Ducati Corse said that the abolition of the winglets would raise the costs of aerodynamic research in MotoGP. Yamaha has sent to the track in Sepang test an M1 with a hull that has the 2017 MotoGP winglets on the inside. Then, the Japanese brand respects the constraints of regulation.
2017 MotoGP Winglets: Valentino tested Them
The picture shows Valentino Rossi on a Yamaha that in the front section showing an enlarged hull at the top. Because inside it is possible to see a couple of flow diverters. It is curious that the image arrives form the MotoGP.com official site. The effectiveness of the winglets had long been disproved. However, then they all are geared to develop these concepts launched by Ducati.
Even Ducati had them
Now we got to stage two with winglets that are hidden inside of fairings. But the Yamaha was not the first. In fact, Ducati would hide in the first test day a similar solution. But we didn’t note the new 2017 MotoGP Winglets. Therefore, the marks are always looking for new ways to try to make sure the pilots increasingly better performance.
And Honda?
Ducati and Yamaha are the two most active in seeking new aerodynamic solutions and not. Now it’s the Honda time. So, the Japanese brand will have to find solutions that can guarantee the 2016 MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez to have the same wheelbase of his direct rivals.
