Phillip Island GP will be the next race of the 2016 MotoGP World Championship. Here Valentino Rossi can fight for the second place in general standing. The Motegi’s fall allowed Marquez to win in advance the 2016 Title. Now, the Italian champion hopes to successfully defend at least his second place.
Phillip Island GP is the first of three important Races
There are still three races to go. The first is at Phillip Island, in Australia. “A fantastic track and a place that I really like.” said Rossi. “We must try to be fast and strong here as well. Because if it is true that in Japan we have collected zero points, it is also true that we have proven to be strong.“
Phillip Island is a special circuit for the Italian champion. He was third in 2000, then Rossi won for five years. From 2001 to 2005. He’s always been on the podium in the next five seasons. He was second in 2008 and in 2009, third in 2006, 2007 and 2010 and third in 2013. Finally, Vale won in 2014. At Phillip Island, last February Rossi tested the new Michelin tires. “Unfortunately, we get back now after an awful season.” said Valentino. “We hope that the weather conditions are not bad. The cold can be dangerous. We hope to have a good weather.”
Jorge Lorenzo: “It will be a Particular Race”
Even for Jorge Lorenzo, Phillip Island GP will be a particular race. Officially, he isn’t the MotoGP World Champion. “It will be a strange ride. Because Marquez won the Title fight, but I’d make a great race and I’ll try to win.” said the Spaniard. “It will be my goal for the last three races as well as that of conquering the second place in the Championship. It was a shame in Japan. Although at least we were able to fight for the victory despite the wrong choice of the tires. I fall and Vale was handed the title to Marc, but honestly, he was the best pilot in this season.”
