The new Triumph Bonneville Bobber has arrived. It’s a new model of the Classic range. The Bobber uses the basic mechanics of the Bonneville T120. However, everything is new. Bonneville T120 and T120 Black, Street Twin, Thruxton and Bonneville T100 Thruxton R, Street Cup and T100 Black is the long list of new Triumph that renews the classic range.
Today Scrambler and Speedmaster models are the only motorcycles for sale about the earlier family. But even these have a short life. The first has already shown many spy shots and could arrive at 2016 Eicma. The second one is coming. It’s the new Triumph Bonneville Bobber.
Triumph Bonneville Bobber, the English Brand pint of view
Bobber is a custom bike concept very fashionable. Let’s talk about essential, minimalist models, designed for individualistic motorcyclists, who love muscle motors. After the interpretation of Moto Guzzi, now triumph proposes their own vision and does so with a bike that has the task of recalling some classic bikes (like the Speed Twin of 1950). But with a modern approach in technology.
The frame of the new Triumph Bonneville Bobber is new. This is the biggest news for us. It’s a double cradle tubular steel and what changes a lot is the top. There is a height-adjustable seat and the distance from the handlebar. It is suspended thanks to an elegant aluminium frame. The instrumentation consists of a single element, but very complete. Also, we can adjust the inclination.

It confirms the “original” engine
The new Triumph Bonneville Bobber just confirms the engine. It is a liquid cooled, twin cylinder, Euro 4, 1,200 cc in High Torque version. 270° timing ensures smooth and linear delivery. The six-speed gearbox manages it. The double airbox enhances the character of the Bobber, designed with two filters. A single intake and exhaust system combined with a new output shaft. The exhaust system with double lining in brushed stainless steel and equipped with linear silencers “slash cut” are shorter and lighter than the Bonneville T120.
There are many modern technological devices which support and aid the pilot in the search for a driving experience enjoyable, but also safe. So, the engine has the drive-by-wire and two driving modes (Road and Rain), selectable via a new command and with two specific throttle mappings, for optimal levels of control and safety in different driving conditions.
Triumph will show the Bonneville Bobber at 2016 EICMA
Speaking of electronics, the Bobber has the traction control. However, you switch off it. Global also contributes to comfort the clutch to “assisted torque”, which lessens the effort to lever. The Triumph Bonneville Bobber has also changed the swingarm. The new one is swinging, with shortened travel cage. It remembers once bobber frames. However, it is not rigid. Because under the seat there is a horizontal shock absorber in place two on the T120. New are also the handlebars, straight and now assembles the mirrors at the ends, and the wheel size. 100 for 19″ front and 150 to 16″ at the rear.
The Bonneville Bobber is designed for customization, with over 150 available accessories, as well as a clothing line. It includes technical and casual leather jackets. The Triumph Bonneville Bobber will be available from early February 2017 in four different colors. Red, Black, Matt Black and Dark Green. We’ll know price the December 16. So, it will of course be one of the big protagonists of EICMA 2016.
