Jennifer Lopez wants to donate one million dollars (about 837,000 euros) to the island devastated by Hurricane “Maria”. Her parents come from Puerto Rico. US singer and actress announced it at a press conference of New York governor Andrew Cuomo. He also promised aid for the US outlying area and announced government support.
Jennifer Lopez loves Puerto Rico
“It’s a pleasure and I’m proud to donate the proceeds of my Las Vegas show,” said Jennifer Lopez. “I can’t even describe what it means and the people of Puerto Rico that New York not only promises support but also provides funds and supplies for aid.” She is concerned about the part of her family that still lives on the island and to which she has not had contact since the hurricane, said the singer. On the Caribbean island, Hurricane Maria has killed at least ten people and caused billions of dollars in damage. Throughout Puerto Rico there were power cuts, gasoline became scarce, and the still functioning petrol stations could only give gasoline to official cars for rescue operations.
