Harley Davidson Sport Glide – Harley Davidson could revive a model that we wait for over 20 years. The FXRT Sport Glide. The name of this bike could be present in both the United States and Europe on some trademark application papers. Then, most probably Harley Davidson could soon create a new model.
The rumors say that both U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office received requests for the name of the Sport Glide Harley, a model introduced in 1983. The Sport Glide is a spin-off of the Super Glide. According to hotbike, the Harley-Davidson Sport Glide was originally equipped with a powerful liquid-cooled V4 engine. Harley Davidson had abandoned this kind of engine of insufficient funding. The new Harley-Davidson Sport Glide will have a wider and taller saddle. Then, more space for both driver and passenger. Also, it might be a sport cruiser than ever before. The air openings in the fairing done in a wind tunnel. It should serve as a scoop for that channel, the cold air pass through the radiator. No word yet on when the new Sport Glide will come on the market. However, it might arrive for 2016 Intermot or for 2016 EICMA. Although it seems an idea too risky.
Harley Davidson Sport Glide: same platform and engine of the Dyna
If you really want to introduce the new Harley Davidson Sport Glide in the fall must use the existing platform Dyna and its engine. The new FXRT could complement the others middleweight (for H-D) bagger, the Switchback. A redesigned front part probably is not enough to prove the return of the Sport Glide. We can guess that designers at the bar and Shield are already working hard on a wider scale of revamping old machine. After the summer we will know if Harley Davidson will show the new model in Germany or in Italy.
