Travis Kalanick, Uber’s Ceo, could be forced to take a leave of absence under changes being considered by the firm. Also, Kalanick does not yet know his future.
Travis Kalanick and the sexual harassment scandal
The sexual harassment scandal continues to shake Uber. After recent redundancies, an email sent by CEO Travis Kalanick to employees of the company for a business trip to Miami is now coming in. In Kalanick emails the ‘conditions’ for having sex with someone inside the company.
Two requests
Travis Kalanick’s requests were two. Ask to have sex explicitly and receive an emphatic “yes” and be at the same managerial level. “You do not have to have sex with another employee unless you have asked the person to have this privilege and have received a ‘Yes, we have sex’ emphatic response. And unless you are at the same level in the same chain of command“.
Unanimous vote
“The council voted unanimously. The will is to adopt all the recommendations of the owner’s report.” Uber said. Tomorrow we will know more. It seems that Travis Kalanick can take time from Uber and then return to a role with less authority. Or stay as Ceo but under greater control.
