Livio Suppo – Misano has always been a challenging track for Honda in the past. But for three years now, Repsol-Honda has been triumphant there. Livio Suppo from HRC is hoping for five more nerve-racking races until the end of the season. Before the Aragón Grand Prix starts next week, Livio Suppo, Repsol Honda’s team principal, took a look back at the Misano-GP, where Marc Márquez regained the lead of the World Championship with his win in the rain. The Spaniard is now level on points with Ducati star Andrea Dovizioso. Dani Pedrosa was experiencing significant problems. He couldn’t bring the tires to the temperature in the wet and only made it to the finish as 14th.

On the positive side, Marc celebrated a great victory and led the World Championship table again at the same time as Dovizioso. And the five races before the end. It will be an exciting season finale. Marc shows great determination and is fast in all circumstances,” says Suppo. “Dani’s result was negative. Last season he won in Misano. I’m sure he could have shown a great race again if it had been sunny. It was impossible for him to push more with these rain tires,” said Suppo.

“Marc Márquez beat Danilo Petrucci on the Ducati in the final stage and distanced him by 1.1 sec. To be honest, it was a long race from the pit wall. I knew mistakes would happen because many drivers crashed, so we were always worried,” admits Suppo. “We were thrilled when Marc Danilo attacked, who drove a great race. We were even happier that Marc drove his fastest time on the last lap. In the past, Misano was a difficult track for Honda. But now Honda has won there for three consecutive years. It was Marc’s fourth win of the season.”

How were the problems in Misano solved? HRC is always working to improve the RCV and minimize the negative points. The goal is always to have a machine competitive on every track. But as always in our sport, it is the drivers who make the big difference. Last year Dani was unbeatable, and now Marc did an excellent job. Misano also had stars on the track: “We were happy to see Keanu Reeves and spend time with him. He has a great passion for our sport and comes to MotoGP races when he’s not too busy. His passion for motorcycles is so great he and his friend Gard Hollinger have created a brand called Arch Motorcycles that produces exclusive motorcycles.”
